Episode 27 - CM Punk in the UFC
At UFC 181 in December 2014, following his tumultuous exit from World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) earlier that year, Phil Brooks (CM Punk) announced he had signed a multi fight deal with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). After training for more than a year, he would make his MMA debut against Mickey Gall at UFC 203 in September 2016 (ironically held in the same arena that he resigned from WWE at, in Cleveland Ohio). He lost that fight, along with his following fight in his hometown of Chicago against Mike Jackson at UFC 225 in 2018, before signing with CFFC (a UFC affiliate) as a commentator, and eventually retiring from MMA upon signing with All Elite Wrestling (AEW) in 2021.
