Long vs Short Travel - How Much is Too Much?
We've found that we ride slower and brake more when the bike is fully locked than when we're riding properly tuned suspension. Like a lot more. Brake Time, FlowScore and Brake Checks were all up on the rigid bike. But do we all really need 6 inches of travel? Can you ride downhill on a trail bike? Is 140mm enough for Enduro? Well, if you listened to our tire testing episode, you'll remember that we were able to completely change the bike and how we brake simply by changing the tires - not increasing suspension. There are all kinds of suspension gizmos out there, but do lockouts on long travel bikes mean they will climb better at all? We don't think so! Have a lsisten in here as we explore the limits of bike travel and try to figure out if one bike will ever be enough.
